INDIVIDUAL TOUR IN NORTH CAUCASUS:

CHECHNYA AND DAGESTAN

7 days / 6 nights 

Day 1:Excursion Makhachkala, Sarykum barkhan

Meeting at the airport. Welcoming with national souvenirs

 

Sarykum Barkhan (Sand Dune): We will visit the largest sand dune in Europe, located in Kumtorkalinsky district of Dagestan. It is one of the largest sand dunes in Eurasia. 

Time for lunch 

Tarki-Tau : A huge stoloid-shaped hill that stretches along Makhachkala parallel to the sea. 

Juma Mosque

We will visit the snow-white Juma Mosque in the very center of Makhachkala, it can be seen from afar. It is considered one of the largest in Europe. The building of the temple can accommodate up to 17 thousand believers at a time.

Day 2 . Grozny, Argun, Shali. 

Breakfast 

Excursion to Grozny

City sightseeing tour of Grozny. We will walk along the Putin and Kadyrov avenues, will see and visit the famous mosque “Heart of Chechnya”. It was opened in 2008 and named in honor of the first Chechen president Akhmat-Khadji Kadyrov. We will climb to the observation deck of the Grozny City high-rise complex and visit the Floral Park. 

Time for lunch  

The city of ArgunIt is here that one of the most beautiful religious buildings is located - the first ultra-modern high-tech mosque in the country. The mosque is named after the mother of Chechnya’s president, Aimani Kadyrova, and is known as the “Mother's Heart” mosque. 

The city of Shali.

Stopover in Shali. Inspection of the mosque “Pride of Muslims”. It is the largest mosque in Europe, accommodating up to 100 thousand people. 

Dinner in Shali with national Chechen cuisine.

Day 3: Excursion to Sulak Canyon, Chirkei Reservoir, Nokhyo Cave

Dubki settlement

Lookout point on the Sulak Canyon from Dubki settlement. This is the best view from this point! Sulak Canyon is one of the deepest canyons in the world and the deepest in Europe, its depth reaches up to 1920 meters, and its length is 53 kilometers. 

Chirkei Reservoir

A reservoir formed on the Sulak River for the construction of the largest hydroelectric power plant. The landscape of the reservoir is unusually beautiful. 

We will visit Nokhyo Cave with a suspension bridge over the Sulak River.

A suspension cable bridge 70 meters long is stretched across the Sulak canyon. The height of the bridge over the Sulak River is 60 meters. On both sides of the bridge crossing there are observation platforms and cafes. 

For an extra fee you can bungee jump or take a ride on a zip line.

Day 4: Excursion to Hunzakh, Matlas plateau, Tobot waterfall, Itlyadyar waterfall, Stone bowl, Karadakh gully

Irganay reservoir

Irganayskoye Reservoir in Dagestan is compared to Norwegian fjords. The stunning nature around surprises and mesmerizes tourists.

Karadakh gully

The length of the whole gorge is about 400 meters, the height of stone walls reaches 160 - 170 meters, the average width of the gorge is not more than 3 meters. In some places the rocks close together and form arches and tunnels. In some places, huge boulders are stuck between two walls at a great height. 

Matlas Plateau

Next we will go to the Matlas plateau. We will see the monument to Leo Tolstoy, look at a small mosque, admire waterfalls. From the observation deck we will have a stunning panorama of the gorge. 

Stone Bowl

The Stone Bowl is popularly called one of the gorges of Khunzakh district, not far from Matlas. Unremarkable rocks hidden behind a winding serpentine hide a completely different world inside. 

Hunzakh village

The ancient capital of Avaristan, the birthplace of warriors and poets. Hunzakh village is located in the heart of mountainous Dagestan on the picturesque Hunzakh plateau - at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level. 

Tobot Waterfall, Itlyatlyar Waterfall

We will see one of the highest waterfalls not only in mountainous Dagestan, but also in the whole territory of the North Caucasus - Tobot waterfall. Itlyatlyar waterfall is located on the other side from Tabot waterfall (they are often confused).

Day 5: Excursion Gamsutl, Chokh terraces, Salta waterfall

Chokh Terraces

Chokh Terraces is an architectural and engineering masterpiece located in Dagestan, on the slopes of Mount Chokh. It is a complex of irrigation systems, land cultivation and creation of unique terraced fields, which was created back in the Middle Ages. 

Village Gamsutl

Our way lies to the famous abandoned Gamsutl ghost-village, located at an altitude of almost 1500 meters above sea level. This is one of the most ancient settlements of Dagestan, and centuries ago there was a khan's fortress here, but now nobody lives in the village, it has its own special atmosphere! 

We will make a stop and drink delicious and fragrant coffee in the mountains  

Salta waterfall

In Gunib district near Salta village there is an unusual Salta waterfall - the only underground waterfall in Dagestan. This unique place is one of the TOP-10 natural sights of the Republic of Dagestan. 

Time for lunch 

Transfer to Derbent. Check-in to the hotel

Day 6: Excursion in Derbent, Loon ekranoplane 

Breakfast 

Loon (in English: Hen harrier)

The Ekranoplan is actually a ship with wings that can fly over water at tremendous speeds. It is a unique Soviet development, which was abandoned after the collapse of the USSR. 

Excursion to Naryn-Kala citadel

The excursion will reveal us the ancient history of the citadel, which for thousands of years protected the city from the invasion of nomads. It was here that a part of the famous “Silk Road” passed. 

The ancient city of Derbent - “Magaly” 

Juma Mosque of Derbent

Juma Mosque is an ancient shrine, where you can feel all the grandeur of this place and find spiritual peace. It is a Muslim shrine, historical and architectural monument of the VIII century. It is recognized as one of the oldest in the world and the most ancient of those operating on the territory of Russia and the former Soviet Union. 

Time for lunch 

Walk in Nizami Ganjavi Park and Happy People Street 

Return to hotel. Free time

 

Day 7: Departure 

Breakfast, check-out until 12-00.  

Transfer to the airport
